Hello my friends and welcome to my bio page for Pitch Wars!
This is my first time entering in the competition so we'll see how it goes. Even if I don't get selected as a mentee, it's at least helping me finish my final draft. I've been working on this manuscript for six years now and I think it's high time I finish. Let's start with a little introduction to my book:
Cries of a Madman
The Story
Rosie North and Noah Heuston, a young couple preparing for college applications, thought that it was a freak storm that blew them into the lake, but when they surface in another world they soon learn that Magic, a strange being with a complicated relationship with humans, brought them there. As the couple are searching for help in this strange new land, they are attacked in the night and Noah is dragged away into the darkness leaving Rosie all alone.
She wanders the darkness of the forest until daybreak when a boy finds her scared and injured alongside the road. He introduces himself as Cal DeSagara and brings her home to get help. Rosie learns that Cal is a prince of the Queendom of Albumor, the country she and Noah have found themselves in. Rosie learns about Magic and how she often creates doorways between worlds for people to fall through. Rosie also learns the dark truth about who captured Noah. King Jevo DeAncra, ruler of the southern kingdom of Nigrum, has been threatening war against Albumor for years. In the meantime, he has been capturing Otherworlders and performing experiments on them. Experiments that none have yet survived.
While Rosie and Cal work to find a way to rescue her boyfriend, Noah finds himself in the fortress of King Jevo facing the horrors of the King's experiments. Jevo promises him that he will survive and when he does he will no longer fear anything. Noah struggles with this as the pain of torture drives out all reason, but his love for Rosie and his drive to get back to her keeps him fighting. 
Rosie is forced to be patient as the rescue mission gets underway. Cal shows her around the city and she makes friends with many of the locals, but the threat of war looms over the country. Attacks are growing more frequent and more bloody and Rosie is realizing that she and Noah are right in the center of it. All she wants is to get Noah back and go home, but when Nigran soldiers infiltrate the city, she realizes that home isn't an option anymore. Magic opens another doorway, but it isn't to their world. 
In the midst of battle with the enemy, the three find themselves falling into a whole new world: London, England, except it's not the London they know. Little remains of the once thriving city. The people are starving and the city is in ruins. Cal, Noah, and Rosie must find a way back to Albumor, but Magic did something to them when they fell through the doorway. Getting home is now a lot more complicated. 
Characters
Rosie is a seventeen year old writer hoping to go to college for creative writing. She's usually soft and emotional, yet when her emotional battery runs out she becomes dry and sarcastic. She met Noah when they were in middle school and they began dating several months later. She loves literature, language, and history; especially stories with bisexual characters that she can relate to. She fell in love with Noah before she fully realized that she was bi, but now they have fun talking about girls together. Her family is the most important thing to her and that includes Noah and her other friends. She would do anything for the people she loves. She has two older siblings, a sister and a brother, both who have moved out of their parents' house. Her extended family is huge and they all live in Washington State.

Noah is a seventeen year old artist and designer. He wants to go to college for design or engineering. He loves cars, video games, and good stories. He's a pretty shy person when he first meets people, but when he's with his friends he's full of energy and loves to be the center of attention, at least until his social battery runs out too. He's also an introvert like Rosie and they usually spend their time together staying at home playing video games. He's very private and has a hard time articulating his emotions, but cares very deeply for those closest to him and does all he can to be a good friend and boyfriend. He lives with his parents and younger brother.

Cal is the eighteen year old son of Queen Sagara of Albumor. Is is the middle child; he has an older brother, Tumidus, and a younger sister, Renía. As Tumidus has chosen to pursue academics and Renía is next in line for the throne, Cal has become General of the Albumorian Army after his late father. Despite training his whole life to be a leader, Cal grew up fairly mischievous. He and his friends liked to run around the city pulling pranks and creating chaos. He's well known and well liked in the city, and takes the time to get to know his subjects. He's also an artist, but instead of drawing, he carves small figurines from wood. He learned this from his father. Cal is usually calm and good natured, but when he gets emotional he tends to get angry and makes rash decisions. Those around him have learned how to keep him in check when he gets like this, but he can be pretty stubborn. This emotion is usually caused by his need to constantly be the hero.

King Jevo rules the Southern most country on the west coast: Nigrum. he is a powerful sorcerer of Nyx, the dark side of Magic that latches on to selfish desire in humans, and has been growing in power over the years. His mother was cousins with Queen Sagara making he and Cal second cousins. He is the oldest son of Queen Ancra and King Motem, both who have passed away. He has two younger brothers, both who have left home. He was groomed for rule since he was a child. His mother spent so much time teaching him how to be king that he never had time to be a child. He is now obsessed with his mysterious experiments, rumored to be creating a weapon with Nyx by using Otherworlders. Albumorians fear that whatever this weapon is, it is designed to destroy their country.

I was born and raised in Seattle, WA and I'm currently a student double majoring in Environmental Studies and Creative Writing (with minors in Latin and Classical Studies which may lead to a third major because I love going insane).
